Lisa Maxfield is delighted to join the staff of MCC, having recently moved to Wisconsin to begin a choral program at Golde Meir School in Milwaukee.   Having grown up within the Chicago suburbs, she has over 12 years of experience as a music educator and choral conductor across Northern Illinois. She has also performed as a member of several professional and community vocal ensembles as a soloist and section leader.
Mrs. Maxfield has Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Music from North Central College in Naperville, IL where she studied voice with Paul Grizzell and Conducting with Dr. Ramona Wis while also performing within the esteemed Women’s Chorale.  She recently completed her Masters of Music in Education and World Music at Northern Illinois University, where she continued to study voice with Diane Raigains,  in addition to performing in  student ensembles such as University Choir, Middle Eastern, Indonesian Gamelan and New Music Ensembles.  While living within Dekalb, Illinois Mrs. Maxfield has also been a professional soprano and section leader of the United Church of Christ’s Chancel Choir, as well as a  regular performer and vocal director for musicals through the Stage Coach Community Players.
While the voice is her primary performance instrument, Mrs. Maxfield is proficient in world percussion traditions from the middle east and Southeast Asia. In the summer of 2014 she traveled to Bali Indonesia to study Balinese Gamelan, and  the role of  these ensembles within  their local communities. One of the highlight of this program was being one of the first westerners to have performed at the annual Danau temple arts festival at Lake Batur. Outside of her career, Mrs. Maxfield enjoys traveling, cooking, yoga, dancing, and spending time with her husband and their cat.
