Milwaukee Children's Choir is Southeastern Wisconsin's premier children's choir providing exceptional choral music education and performance experiences unmatched in the area. Six choir levels and our Harmony Program rehearse and perform throughout the Milwaukee area. Milwaukee Children's Choir believes in educating the whole child through our child-centered, age appropriate, educational, and fun curriculum while also teaching life skills such as poise, self-confidence, focus, problem solving, and teamwork. Experts say that singing in a choir has a remarkably positive impact on children. Studies show music education helps students perform better in school and become more well-rounded individuals. Parents agree and singers simply say that singing in the choir is so much fun!
Milwaukee Children's Choir believes music education is an important part of childhood development. Therefore, our Harmony Program brings weekly music education classes to children in Milwaukee Public Schools where it would otherwise be nonexistent. The in-school Harmony program serves more than 400 students, while the after-school and evening programs serve another 100 children. The program comes at no cost to the children and is supported by our incredible funders.
Members of the Milwaukee Children's Choir artistic team are talented music educators and performers known for their musicianship, passion for quality music education, leadership in the field of music, and the joy with which they teach. Key concepts from the Kodaly methodology are integrated into the curriculum: singing as the basis for music education, folk music for beginning singers, use of solfège, performing the highest quality of music, developing the complete musician, and using a sequenced, age-appropriate curriculum.
